Expert Stock Buggy?!

Expert stock buggy returns to SDRC.  This class was at SDRC about 18 months ago then disappeared after 2 months. I wonder how long it will last this time?  I signed up for Stock Buggy, but was entered into expert like I expected to be.  I guess I belong in it as I managed to qualify 2nd and was the only other driver to turn 17 laps. Well tonight anyway.

I got a clean start and took the lead when the leader crashed. I held the lead for 3-4 laps, but made a mistake and dropped to 5th, then back to 3rd after a pile up.  I haven't lead with fast guys in the field for awhile and I guess my nerves got the better of me :(.  Still fun though!

Post Thanksgiving Racing

I headed back to SDRC for more racing after taking Turkey Day off. There was also a sale going on that dropped the price of parts in the store to what I would normally pay at Tower, so I picked up some things I was planning to buy anyway, plus a few impulse buys. Lol!

During the sale I picked up some diff bearings, Schelle rear hub ball link mounts, Schelle aluminum rear hubs, Schelle aluminum rear camber link mount, and AE brass C suspension mount.

I decided to race 1/8e buggy this time around as my friend's son wanted to also race 1/8. My car felt pretty good and I managed to turn 18 laps in round 2 and drop my fast lap to 16.6!  I TQ'd but got 2nd in the main after making a few mistakes.

Pre Thanksgiving racing!

I raced stock buggy the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and I guess a lot of guys had the same idea since there were 3 heats!

My car was loose all during practice, so I dropped my rear shock oil and springs to 25wt with black springs.

I had a good start and race for a change! I started clean from 3rd and got up to 2nd! But a few bobbles dropped me back to 3rd.

Stock Buggy Win!

I made a rare Wednesday night race appearance and managed to qualify 3rd and win :). My stock buggy had way more steering compared to the RC8. I had to turn down the drag brake 2 steps, add 1 ball stud washer to the rear link, and only sauce my rear tires. It probably didn't help that my rear tires were also balding!  I think I grabbed my worn set of Electrons and put them in my hauler bag instead of the newer set?

I also picked up Lances old AKA hauler bag to try and buy.  The latch broke on my toolbox and the handle is about to fall off my old hauler bag. I considered the JC hauler bag and Ogio 9800 bag, but the JC bag was too small and the Ogio was too big. The AKA bag was just right :). I guess I should use more AKA stuff now. Lol!

I can fit 3 kit boxes, 3 of my new Akro cases, and 1 Plano case, in the bag. Now I need to transfer all my gear.

1/8 Buggy Win!

I managed to qualify 4th and get the win after the leaders made a few mistakes. I guess this old car still has some fight and fast runs in it :)

I didn't turn a 16 second lap during the race, but I was close with a 17.0. I have done it in practice though.

1/8e Buggy, Saturday 11/7/15

So this would be the 1st race with my RC8 with a full field of cars!  At the last minute my wing and tire order came in, so I mounted those up for racing on Saturday.

YELLOW!  I didn't finish the tires until late so I forgot to take a picture of those. Lol!

The layout was "new", as the direction was reversed and some of the jumps changed. I took one practice run to scuff in my new tires and learn the reversed layout.  I was about to take another run, but the track was closed for watering, so I decided to rebuild my shocks. I took my time rebuilding them as I finished with about an hour to go before racing. Doh!

Ready for racing!

I didn't start driving the car hard until halfway through the main, after I got taken out a few times. I kept driving after the main was over, driving harder and harder, and managed to turn a 16.8 in practice.

I finished 5th in all my races, but I wanted a top 3 :(

Back in Novice!

There weren't enough entries for a 1/8 buggy class, so the 2 cars that did sign up ran in the Novice class. Thankfully none of them beat me.  Lol!

Missed the 2nd qualifier due to a nut coming loose on one of my rear shocks.

I managed to finish 2nd!  Lol!  Still fun to drive though.

Friday night racing?!

The last time I raced on a Friday night was back in June!

Lance was racing my brother's B5m and managed to out qualify me. Lol. Luckily he broke in the main and I managed to recover from a horrible start from 5th, going to last on lap 1, to 3rd by the end of the 10 minute main.
