1st A Main Win of 2015!

I headed out to SDRC for some Stock Buggy racing on Saturday 1/24/15.

didn't run my B5m much during practice as I was messing around with the transponder position a bunch in my WC, since I've been having issues with it after the move. I ended up having to mount it on the outside of the aluminum tub chassis so it had a direct line of sight to the ground and add a BEC capacitor to my receiver.  This seems to be the only setup that doesn't miss any laps. Go figure. I didn't have any problems with scoring at the old track or IERC. Lol!

I had a good run in the 1st round of qualifying, ending up 3rd out of 20 or so entries. But, my car felt loose. I think the track was dry combined with my Chainlinks wearing out.

For round 2 I switched over to a broken in set of silver dirt webs. These tires had more grip, but I pushed too hard and crashed more, ending up with a slower time. I got bumped down to 5th in the A main. Luckily for me 2 guys in front of me had to leave and I moved up to 3rd!  Sweet!

I started 3rd in the A behind my brother and in front of my buddy Lance. The start was clean, but my brother spun out after jumping out of the triple and I hit him!  He got going 1st and then let me by when he didn't really need too.  I was in 3rd until a lapped car flipped my over by accident and I dropped to 4th.  I then passed one guy and another crashed and I was in 2nd!  My brother helped me out in the closing laps by accidently bumping the lead car and spinning him (Lance) out because he was accelerating slower than he expected. I cruise by and steal the win!  While I did win, my fast laps were off by more than 0.5 seconds :(

Next weekend I guess.

Stock Buggy, SDRC, Saturday 1/17/15

I decided to just run my B5m in stock buggy this weekend. Unfortunately, I went to bed late and woke up early, thus I was feeling groggy by the time I got the track. I was hoping I'd feel better by the time racing started, but ended up feeling more tired by the time the mains came around.  This caused me to make more driving mistakes and be impatient in traffic, so my runs were getting slower each round. I would qualify 3rd in the A main, but my pace was slow and mistakes dropped me to 4th.  I'll be sure to get more rest before racing next weekend.

Oh ya. The new scoring program LiveTime sucked the day also. It missed tons of laps during practice then crashed after qualifying. We had to wait around for over an hour whole tech support tried to save the qualifying results and setup then print the mains. Hopefully they get the bugs worked out as this new scoring systems will have some cool features, if it actually works!

Stock Buggy, OCRC, Sunday 1/11/15

Since I did so bad in Mod Buggy Saturday night, I headed up to OCRC for some stock buggy racing!

I qualifed well, 3rd out of 30 entries, but I got run over in the main and finished 6th. Below are my race results.

That's Eli Tomac in the orange top in the background!  He's s regular club racer at OCRC running in Expert Stock Buggy and Mod 4wd :)

Mod Buggy, SDRC, Saturday 1/10/15

After getting the bug to triple, I put an old LRP 8.5 in my B4 and raced it thinking it would be easier to triple than my WC. It was not. I finished last in every race.

On another note, SDRC has changed over to the LiveTime scoring system!  OCRC also uses this new timing system and I'm liking it so far!  It announces your name when you check in, which is cool. It can also run controlled practice automatically, so nobody has to time the sessions and initiate the change over. The timing system does everything all by itself!  I'm looking forward to more cool features coming in he future :)

13.5 Buggy, SDRC, 1/3/15

So. During practice with my RC10WC with a D3.5 13.5 motor, I was clearing the double of the triple with barely any throttle, so I wondered if I could make the full triple. On a good lap I whipped the car off the 1st double, downsided clean, and pulled full throttle for the triple. I landed it clean!  Woohoo!  But now I have it in my head that I can make the triple, so I kept trying it!  I can make it maybe 3 out 4 attempts.

When qualifying started I planned to attempt the triple the entire race just to see if I could do it. This resulted in a slow race time. Lol!  For round 2 I planned to drive normally to put it in the A main, but crashed in the opening laps, so I went for the triple again!  I ended up qualifying towards the middle of the B main. Lol!

I drove normally in the B main, easily win that, bumped into the A and finished 2nd. I might have also won that if I didn't get hit during the start. Oh well.

New Years Racing 2015!

We headed out to SDRC for the 1st race of the new year, Friday January 2nd 2015.  I raced stock with my B5m and 13.5 buggy with the RC10wc.

I managed to qualify 7th in stock out of 33 entries and TQ'd 13.5, with the RC10!  I ended up 7th in stock and 3rd in 13.5 after a few mistakes.

Stock Buggy, OCRC, Sunday 12/28/14

Late Saturday night we decided to head up to OCRC for some Sunday club racing. I would race stock buggy only and was hoping to have a better result, since it would be my 2nd time on this layout.

I had a slow run in round 1 due to using a front tire which was too aggressive, broken in clay typos. My car was loose and  twitchy and hard to drive. For round 2 I changed the front tires to clay pinstripes and kept the same rear tire, clay chainlinks, and my car was much easier to drive. I managed to qualify 7th in the A main.

In the main I had a horrible start getting punted in the triple when I slowed down for a wreck in front of me. I manged to make my way back up in a few laps however, and finished in 4th place :)
